the blogNote

Lets see how this works

Fire Your Boss or Not Really?

I am reading* a book called "FIRE YOUR BOSS"  radical career plan to 1. take control of your work life, 2. boost your income, 3. have a job offer always in hand, 4. find happiness outside of the office. And your boss will thank you TOO! by Stephen M Pollan and Mark Levine, http://www.stephenpollan.com/books.html

As i read along the lines, contrary to the poignant title, the author wants you to work for living but have control over what your doing , with quick served power thoughts he explains these term and has awakened my senses and forces me to doing the assessment of my now and future:

  •  " work for the money, the love will follow"
  • "kill your career...and get a job" he says "this does not mean quitting your career....but attitude adjustment" wow am impressed by the way this book changes my whole outlook career vs work
  • "no one hires a stranger"
  • "its the money that count"
  • " travelling for pleasure not business"
  • "its your boss not the company that counts"
  • "meeting people in the right places"
  • " i work for money" <this is my favorite as i make up the few percent that goes with answer this first >

affirmations: The butterfly effect

Affirmations to me are those messages that come to you when least expected. As i go through daily living i find out that positive affirmations are the greatest weapon agains negativity. I will be reading Pastor Paula White new book she mentions in her quote. Butterfly effect

‎"Everyone will face tragedy and trials at one point or another. Perseverance separates winners from losers. He that perseveres makes every difficulty advancement and every contest a victory. Those who keep moving forward in the face of defeat will find victory. What we obtain too easy, we value too lightly. The cost of something gives it value." THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT via Paula White Minisitries

It’s called “The Butterfly Effect: 10 Words That Transformed My Life”—based on the concept that when a butterfly flaps its wings in one location, it can completely transform the environment of another. ~Paula White

Ngozi Achebe was raised in Nigeria and also spent time in England, where she was born. Just got through listening to great tips by two lovely friends who happen to be my clients as well... I am definitely impressed by their style: God fearing, living passionately and positive energy. very inspiring.

Check out their business pages: Vivian is an Author and Business Empowerment Coach(speaker), and Mitzi is a Wellness Instructor (Namitzi Yoga) and Style/Image Consultant (with great taste in clothes as a personal stylist to the stars, mine too!).

This show was about wellness plans on how to Detox Your Life 2011! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/vivianspeaks/2011/02/05/new-year-resolutions-realistic-or-not

As i embark on my own journey to "Be Fit to Be Useful" challenge, here are some tips i gained from their discussions:

1. Reduce stress:  take time out for your self, eliminate negative energy, exercise your mind through reading, less TV
2. Eat healthy: try organic foods, reduce meat, eat lots of vegetable and fruits and lots of WATER!
3. Get Up and Move: join a fitness class, register to a wellness routine as part of your lifestyle
4. Knowledge is Power: Yoga Fitness is not a religion but a form of workout in stretching and breathing exercises.
5. Detox from productivity drainers: clean out inbox, take out one time a week for your self, unplug your phone or other social device, try silence and meditations.
6. Smile and Have Fun: remember you only have one body which is a temple and cannot be replaced (PowerFUL)

Challenge 2011: starting today

decision date: feb 2nd 2011 time: 1.20am
Official start date: TBA in Feb
challenge name: "Be Strong and Be Useful"

"Robin Sharma Here's the "Be Strong to Be Useful" article from my Feb newsletter + a special announcement http://bit.ly/g8KGLv"

Today as i read over Robin Sharma comment above i knew something has to really change in me.I have decided to challenge myself to an ultimate test.

As i write this post my body is constantly tired, weak and full of same intense fever lost count when this started. I have missed appoinments, pending deadlines, missed networking events and a business and loving family to take care of.

Several things have led to this decision this morning: my family: loving hubby, mom, and several friends seem to be genuinely worried about my wellness so its a definite must that i take immediate actions by reduce any  stress with workout and healthy living.

I feel like alot of people my size may relate, am already a slim, athletic built, energetic lady but my body truly needs a good workout to actually operate at 100% level, but my mind is totally ahead of me in this so only the body has been weak for a long time. My mind is ambitious and a real winner so lets DO this!

Ultimate test: Body:
1. Go to doctor this week and complete health screening tests to rule out any unnecessary concerns
2. Create a health schedule: join a fitness class since i dont like gym equipments
3. Enroll in yoga class taught by my personal friend Mitzi Henderson(Namitzi Yoga)
4. Train for cause and finish it: maybe one of those mini marathon or sessions w/JW
3. Hairstyle:  protective hairstyle as this seem to be my biggest hangup with sweating
4. Create a support system:  accountability team <Confirmed >
5. Blog daily with pictures of actual events and record all milestone to use and inspire someone else
6. Eat healthy, Cook and create meals that works for your body, no more junk!
7. Listen to my body and only do what is right for it.
8. Detox: I want to Join Oprah team as they do  "The challenge is on! No meat, no milk, no animal anything"
9. Have Fun: Live.Love.Laugh
10. Hardwork = Success

9Goal: to look and feel great inside and outside for myself and my family and a 100% productive contributor to all things that i do!
You can join me in the challenge if you are reading this? email me or atleast encourage me with your prayers. Lets have fun, find our strengths, voice and enjoy our God given one life to Live!

Sharing T.I Quick Biz Tip

February 1st 2011
T.I.M.E: Teach.Inspire.Mentor.Empower

One of my mentors shared this with me today a quote she found, she says that this maybe the best way for us in the field to explain public relations (PR) vs Marketing vs Advertising, its a bit colorful , one sided from a man's angle but i think it paints the best picture with a little bit of humor!

"On the door of our office, we have a poster which sums up pretty well – albeit in a colourful manner – what public relations is.
“A man takes a girl out for a romantic evening. At the end of it, he tells her that he is the world’s best lover - that’s advertising.
If he tells her she needs a lover and he’s the best man for the job, that’s marketing.
But if, before he can say a word, she tells him that she’s heard he is a great lover - then that’s public relations.”  by AJ.Durning

You get the general idea, so let me know your thoughts? Feel free to inbox me your business questions or comments on branding or PR, i will give it my best answer.

hope you enjoyed the analysis, fun, but to the point.

I think Modern day PR should now include using a wide range  of customized  package for your specific business fit: branding, social media, new media, media relations, direct marketing and crisis management and many more     ~Tina Ike~

Inspired by my childhood

Monday,  January 24th 2011

TinaIkePR presents TIME: Teach.Inspire.Mentor.Empower Book Club series.
Note: As a kid i read lots of novels, magazines, encyclopedias and news commentaries, my parents made sure i had plenty to read. My dad truly encouraged my reading habits buying me lots of books, i especially remember  when he came back home  from work when we lived in Kano State, Nigeria with a whole set of Encyclopedia and i would read through it with total excitement, loving the stories, pictures and wishing to meet the authors.  The stories in those book gave me a lovely escape from my known enviroment as a child, i was introduced early on to a whole new (other) world out there.  My interest in Media relations, Journalism, Authors and Writing  grew each day, as a public relations consultant i get the most priveledge working with them now. Life has come full circle for me again. My mom will tell you this started at an early age.  I remember keeping journals in high school and getting in trouble for writing down my daily thots. Hey fast forward 15 year later, i can share a blog, run a public relations firm that helps others with their images in the media and beyond! Here is to more years of doing what i LOVE!

book review: reading list

I am reading  Debra Shigley's "The Go-Getter Girls Guide" so far this has been an easy read(since lately am having a readers block mind you not writers since i love blogging), am so inspired by this book, i have share some of the tips am learning from it...

theme: getting what you want in work and life ( and lookin great while your at it) this is a modern day 2009 female empowerment guide and am so loving it right now

the author takes you through several journey of different successful women and the roads that led to their success ( somewhat similar to the concept of my show TIME: teach.inspire.mentor.empower that i created and auditioned for Oprah's OWN network, my pitch is to interview all personalities doing great works in their community- especially the global sense-African community in the diaspora and travel assignment locations, I pray this idea get picked up by a channel AMen! reading this book makes me very optimistic)

lesson learned from the book:
1. whats you type? go getter vs get along girl, the quiz shows that i am a go getter! goFigure
2. not every person is going to like you in every setting
3.embrace your strengths and weakness
4.enroll in toastmasters: i have been planning to get some form of public speaking training
5. do some volunteer work ( hey i pretty much did all volunteer based work half of last year 2010)
6. write down 5 goals you want to accomplish

this is still an ongoing review as am still on page 49! stayConnected for more updates
