Inspired by my childhood

Monday,  January 24th 2011

TinaIkePR presents TIME: Teach.Inspire.Mentor.Empower Book Club series.
Note: As a kid i read lots of novels, magazines, encyclopedias and news commentaries, my parents made sure i had plenty to read. My dad truly encouraged my reading habits buying me lots of books, i especially remember  when he came back home  from work when we lived in Kano State, Nigeria with a whole set of Encyclopedia and i would read through it with total excitement, loving the stories, pictures and wishing to meet the authors.  The stories in those book gave me a lovely escape from my known enviroment as a child, i was introduced early on to a whole new (other) world out there.  My interest in Media relations, Journalism, Authors and Writing  grew each day, as a public relations consultant i get the most priveledge working with them now. Life has come full circle for me again. My mom will tell you this started at an early age.  I remember keeping journals in high school and getting in trouble for writing down my daily thots. Hey fast forward 15 year later, i can share a blog, run a public relations firm that helps others with their images in the media and beyond! Here is to more years of doing what i LOVE!

TIME: Teach.Inspire.Mentor.Empower

RS: summarize how you want people to describe you (when you are not in the room) in ONE line. (tough question today, i know :)...I'll go first: "Robin stands for leadership+excellence+strength+compassion+impact and is using his life to help people Lead Without a Title around the world." (this is my IDEAL that i'm working towards)> now yours please.

Tina Ike: "Tina stands for positive, inspiring, empowering environments, am working on all areas of private and public relations. building great images for personal and business branding". avoiding distractions and focusing on the ultimate goal thats being the possible BEST! thanks you for your questions makes me think and find answers from within

With RS question today on facebook, I can truly say i was able to write down what i would love to be known for right now, this might change but for now this is my best IDEAL

thanks you Robin Sharma

book review: reading list

I am reading  Debra Shigley's "The Go-Getter Girls Guide" so far this has been an easy read(since lately am having a readers block mind you not writers since i love blogging), am so inspired by this book, i have share some of the tips am learning from it...

theme: getting what you want in work and life ( and lookin great while your at it) this is a modern day 2009 female empowerment guide and am so loving it right now

the author takes you through several journey of different successful women and the roads that led to their success ( somewhat similar to the concept of my show TIME: teach.inspire.mentor.empower that i created and auditioned for Oprah's OWN network, my pitch is to interview all personalities doing great works in their community- especially the global sense-African community in the diaspora and travel assignment locations, I pray this idea get picked up by a channel AMen! reading this book makes me very optimistic)

lesson learned from the book:
1. whats you type? go getter vs get along girl, the quiz shows that i am a go getter! goFigure
2. not every person is going to like you in every setting
3.embrace your strengths and weakness
4.enroll in toastmasters: i have been planning to get some form of public speaking training
5. do some volunteer work ( hey i pretty much did all volunteer based work half of last year 2010)
6. write down 5 goals you want to accomplish

this is still an ongoing review as am still on page 49! stayConnected for more updates

Q+A with leadership guru Robin Sharma  01.19.11

Social media/fb is great after all, i am so excited to experience what it has to offer every now and then. So yesterday i did my usual daily check on fb for updates on inspiration and motivation. one of my fav author n leadership coach Robin Sharma post- received lots of questions and mine was one of them he answered out of over 150+ comments. I have read lots of his books, listened to his podcasts- video blogs and any material he puts out there.

below is the copy and paste version of our chat:  please read, be inspired, follow your dream, ask questions and always lead with humility.

i'm ready to take and answer your questions for the next 30 min on leadership or success or life. jump right in and let's get this going guys! :)

Tina Ike How do stay relevant in your field? What suggestion do you have for new business owner to stay motivated?

Robin Sharma Tina, i love your question. well. every virtuoso outpracticed+outstudied+outprepared their peers (i don't like the word "competition". so the key to staying relevant in your field is be a hungry student. read and read and listen to podcasts and interview the best of the best in your industry. and then work at your work to make it better every day. as i wrote in The Leader Who Had No Title: "small daily improvements lead to stunning results over time"
